City releases street sweeping map

The City of Calgary is working hard to keep Calgary’s streets clean and now Calgarians can follow the street sweepers progress in real time.

Today, The City is unveiling a new map, searchable by community, that shows when street cleaning is scheduled and when it’s complete, including information about parking bans.

“This is a great tool for citizens,” said Sean Somers, who works with The City’s Transportation department. “In addition to the signs residents will see in their communities, this online tool is another way for Calgarians to find out when their community will be s
wept, as well as updates due to weather and equipment.”

Somers would like to remind Calgarians that keeping streets clean is a team effort.

“We get a lot of calls from frustrated citizens whose neighbours have left vehicles or blue and black carts on the road, resulting in debris being left behind,” said Somers. “We’re asking Calgarians to do their part and be a good neighbor - don’t litter and move your vehicle or blue and black carts from the street on the dates that sweepers will be cleaning your community.”

The City’s Spring Clean-up program will remove an estimated 100,000 tonnes of material from Calgary’s 15,000 lane kilometres of roadway.

To find out when sweeping is scheduled for your community, watch for signs in your area, or visit the new map at for the latest information.

The City of Calgary Roads thanks residents, businesses and motorists for their patience and cooperation during Spring Clean-up.
