Calgary Firefighters Win Gold at World Police Fire Games
Athletes from the Calgary Fire Department are returning home from New York with gold from the biennial World Police Fire Games.
The event drew 18,000 fire and law enforcement personnel from around the globe to compete in 65 sports at 35 venues over 10 days.
The Calgary Fire Department had over 100 competitors at the games and won gold in football beating the hometown New York Fire Department. The men’s open hockey team got silver being narrowly edged-out by the National Russian Fire Service in an exciting gold medal game.
Brian McAsey, Public Information Officer with The Calgary Fire Department said they are proud of all athletes for their "participation, success and representating of our department upholding our core values of pride, teamwork, professionalism, and respect."
