Road Conditions app now available for Android and Blackberry

The City of Calgary Road Conditions app is now available for free download for Android and Blackberry users. The app was first released for iPhone users in December, and has received more than 14,000 downloads.

The app can be downloaded in the Android Market, Blackberry App World and the iTunes store.

The Road Conditions app is designed to keep Calgarians informed of the status of city-wide Snow Route parking bans. Users can also view City traffic cameras on key roadways and receive updates on driving conditions in Calgary.

Those Calgarians who don’t have a smartphone can sign up for Snow Route parking ban email notifications at calgary.ca/snow. Calgarians can also call 3-1-1 to receive automated Snow Route parking updates.

The Snow Route parking ban program supports snow plowing operations by removing vehicles from the streets and allowing crews to clear snow from Calgary roads more efficiently and effectively. When Snow Events are declared, parking will be temporarily restricted on designated Snow Routes for 72 hours. Snow Events will be declared when five centimetres or more of snow accumulates on city streets. For more information on snow removal and parking, visit calgary.ca/snow.
