Valentine's Day Adopt-A-Thon

Looking for someone to love this Valentine’s Day? The City of Calgary Animal & Bylaw Services in partnership with Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS), MEOW Foundation and Pound Rescue, are reducing their adoption fees on Valentine’s Day to get lovable cats into forever homes.

“We all have amazing, well-socialized companion animals available for adoption,” said Bill Bruce, Director of Animal & Bylaw Services. “The focus of this collaborative event is to increase awareness of our individual organizations and our partnership, and to remove any financial barriers that may prevent Calgarians from adopting a cat.”

On February 14, Animal & Bylaw Services, AARCS, MEOW Foundation and Pound Rescue will have cats available for adoption for a reduced fee of $75.

All the cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped or tattooed, vet-checked, vaccinated (excluding rabies) and have a six-month City of Calgary licence.

There is also a special for Calgarians planning to adopt a dog. For every dog adoption application received by AARCS or Pound Rescue on February 14, Sit Happens! is offering new owners six dog training lessons at a reduced cost of $100. While AARCS or Pound Rescue must receive the adoption applications on Valentine’s Day, adopters have three months from the date of adoption to register their dog for the Sit Happens! dog training special.

To adopt a cat from the Animal Services Centre, visit the facility at 2201 Portland Street S.E. between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. For more information about the adoptable cats available at the Animal Services Centre, check calgary.ca and search adoptable cats, or contact 3-1-1.
