Youth Photography Contest – Capture Your Community for Mayors Environment Expo

In the hands of youth - by Eliza
Grab your camera and get involved in the 2012 Mayor’s Environment Expo.

We are inviting Junior and High School students (Grades 7-12) to showcase their photography talent.
There are fantastic prizes including Flip Digital Camcorders and Crumpler bags.

The 2012 contest themes this year include:
  1. Before and After
  2. Trash to Treasure
  3. Breathe
  4. Patterns
The photography contest encourages students to consider the environmental community that surrounds them and to take action to protect it.

Fifty photos were submitted by Calgary students in the 2011 contest.

“The quality of the submissions was incredible,” said Lorraine McElwain, contest judge and Talisman Energy representative on the 2011 Expo organizing committee. “Clearly a lot of thought and creativity went into the choice of subject matter and there was a really high calibre of photographic skill.”
