The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre (YEC) wants to know “What will you do this summer?”
Join Calgary’s youth on April 17 for the 14th annual Summer Hiring Fair held down at the Big Four Building, Stampede Park. The fair is free and geared towards youth aged 15-24.
This year the hiring fair boasts more than 80 employers in attendance and last year over 5,300 youth attended.
“The hiring fair is a major event for job seeking youth in the City,” notes Leita Blasetti, a Community Liaison with the Youth Employment Centre.
Jobs range from recreation and retail, to trades and logistics. There are also many professional opportunities in the financial and marketing fields. “This atmosphere provides face-to-face networking and gives youth an opportunity to discuss their skills and abilities with hiring employers,” said Leita.
Youth are encouraged to bring their resumes and have questions ready for employers. Some employers will be conducting on-the-spot interviews. Youth will also have the chance to win an iPad at the fair.
Can’t make it to the hiring fair? Drop-in to the Youth Employment Centre another day. YEC provides year-round career planning and employment services at no cost to Calgary youth.
YEC is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and has helped over 120,000 youth since it opened in 1987.
