Come on in, the water's great! Inglewood Aquatic Centre re-opens

Residents of Inglewood can suit up and get back into the pool. After a month’s closure, the Inglewood Aquatic Centre has reopened.

The centre closed March 1 after a mechanical failure led to a significant, rapid loss of water from the pool – flooding the facility's basement. The Calgary Fire Department was called on-scene and the centre was subsequently closed for repair.

Over the past month, new pipes and drains have been installed and the facility’s been treated to a number of cosmetic upgrades.

“We don’t often have the time to make repairs or upgrades to our pools when they’re open to the public, so this gave us an unexpected opportunity to do some much needed work,” says Aquatics and Fitness Manager Heather Bruce.

New paint, deck tiles, flooring in the centre’s multi-purpose room, and high efficiency bulbs throughout the building will all contribute to an improved customer experience.

“It was a Herculean effort on the part of our staff, contractors and maintenance workers,” says Bruce. “And now that the centre has re-opened, I think our customers will see a real difference.”

The Inglewood Aquatic Centre will have an official opening celebration – with games, prizes and aquatic activities for the whole family – on Saturday, April 28.
