Calgary Metal Recycling incident update – Road closures in effect

The Municipal Emergency Plan is still activated due to activities associated with resolving a smouldering fire from Calgary Metal Recycling. Due to changing weather conditions, smoke has travelled closer to ground level resulting in reports of minor irritations for some working in areas along Ogden Road.

As a precautionary measure, the Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation and the Alberta Distillers has been temporarily closed. No residential properties have been affected.

The decision has been made to close Ogden Road in both directions between Bonnybrook Road and 15A St. SE, and to close Highfield Blvd. between Ogden Road and 42 Ave SE. The road closures will be immediate and until further notice.
