Calgary Fire Department hosts Live Burn Demo

The Calgary Fire Department hosted a side-by-side burn today demonstrating the effectiveness of fire sprinklers in homes at the Fire Training Academy.

The demonstration provided a visual comparison highlighting the difference an automated sprinkler system can make in reducing injuries, saving lives, and minimizing the impact on the environment.
A fire is set in a simulated residence equipped with an automated sprinkler system.
Sprinklers are activated when fire is detected.
Post fire: Damage to property is minimal.
The fire catches and quickly spreads in the residence without automated sprinklers.
Calgary Fire crews work to put out the flames.
Post fire: The residence without an automated sprinkler system is seriously damaged .
The event was a collaboration between the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC), The Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Association (CASA), and the Calgary Fire Department.
