Pet App upgraded & enhanced for mobile pet owners

Animal & Bylaw Services has launched a major update to its popular City of Calgary Pet App making it a ‘must have’ addition for pet owners and animal lovers across the city. An enhanced version of the initial app, which was launched in May 2011, makes it even more convenient for Calgarians to consider pet adoption and to give a future family member a forever home.

Downloadable to smart phones and other mobile devices, this user-friendly, free app includes:

  • An interactive map of off-leash areas and emergency veterinary clinics across the city allowing users to instantly find the nearest park to take their dogs or look up the closest care facility for injured or sick pets.
  • A new interface menu offers much easier access to information and photos of dogs and cats available for adoption.
  • Share animals you think your friends or family might be interested adopting using social media including Facebook and Twitter.

These new features and upgrades enhance an already easy to use app that connects Calgarians to many services offered by Animal & Bylaw Services. These include links to information on responsible pet ownership, licensing, finding lost cats and dogs and the I Heart My Pet program.

The Calgary Pets App is one of several free City of Calgary apps designed to provide citizens with fast and efficient service right from their own smart phone or tablet no matter where they are. The upgraded Pet App will work on iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry devices.
