Calgarians are invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2012 with family fun events

As the holiday season is upon us, now is the time to consider your New Years Eve options. The City of Calgary is hosting three, all ages events to ring in the New Year. From a New Year’s Eve Family Dance Party, the electric Citytv New Year’s Bash at Olympic Plaza and a Family Pool Party at Village Square Leisure Centre – there is something for everyone!

Free Family Dance Party & kids countdown at Municipal Atrium (City Hall)

7 p.m. – 10 p.m. (kids countdown at 9 p.m.)

Bring the whole family to the New Year’s Eve Family Dance Party and help wrap up 2012 as Recreation’s Centennial year. This all ages family fun event will illuminate the Municipal Building. Calgarians are encouraged to dress in white, neon or anything that ‘glows’. The indoor atrium will host a number of activities including games, crafts, power bikes that create lighting effects, fire dancers, a photo booth and of course- dancing! The dance party will conclude with a kid's countdown at 9 p.m.

The Citytv New Year’s Bash at Olympic Plaza

9:30 p.m. to 12:15 a.m.

Ring in the New Year at The Citytv New Year’s Bash. Performances include platinum selling artist Johnny Reid, Serena Ryder, Victoria Duffield and Massari.  Mayor Naheed Nenshi will lead the crowd in the countdown to welcome 2013.  The event will be broadcast nationwide on Citytv, beginning at approximately 10 p.m. MT.

Please note that due to event requirements there will be no public skating at the Olympic Plaza for the New Year’s events.

The evening celebration will culminate with fireworks at midnight from the Municipal Building.

Family Pool Party at Village Square Leisure Centre

Village Square Leisure Centre - 2623 56 St. N.E.
4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. – regular admission

Swim, jump, crawl or slide. Celebrate the coming of 2013. To inspire your moves a DJ will be pumping fresh tunes while families enjoy the wave pool, inflatable toys, arts, crafts, treats, prizes and much more. You don’t want to miss out on this pool party countdown!
