Calgary Transit celebrates 32 years of CTrain operation

A timeline of the CTrain's milestones over the last 32 years.
Calgary Transit celebrated the 32nd Anniversary of CTrain operation on Saturday, May 25. The CTrain is currently one of the most successful LRT systems in North America with the highest recorded ridership of more than 260,000 passengers every day. The CTrain became the first public transit system in Canada to claim all of its electricity from wind power generation in 2001.

Since its inception there have been numerous expansions that have helped connect Calgarians across the city. Today the CTrain spans 56 kilometres, providing service to a total of 44 CTrain stations. Current refurbishments are underway to existing platforms to extend CTrain service from three to four cars and are expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
