The City wants your help enhancing Downtown West

Most residents in Downtown West can already boast about their easy access to the Bow River pathways and Calgary’s business district making it easy to get to work or to step out for a quick jog along the river.

However, there is still a lot that can be improved in Downtown West. That’s why The City of Calgary is using an online engagement tool created by Mindmixer to develop My Downtown West and consult citizens within the community of Downtown West and beyond about what they think the priorities should be for this community.

The feedback obtained will help The City create a new Area Redevelopment Plan for Downtown West that will help guide how the existing community should develop over time. Since launching the My Downtown West in April, community residents have contributed ideas like enhancing public spaces, improving the development of local shopping amenities and in suggesting options for the future of the old Calgary Planetarium site.

After speaking specifically with the residents of Downtown West for a month, The City of Calgary would like to open up the conversation to all Calgarians who live, work and play within this community.

The goal is to consult and to obtain citizen input. We hope for widespread participation so that every corner of our diverse city is represented. Feedback obtained through consultation will be used by City Council and administration to inform decision making relating to the area redevelopment plan.  The My Downtown West  website will be active through the months of May and June, 2013.

Check it out and let us know what would make Downtown West an even better community!
