City Matters: Safe Disposal of Household Hazardous Waste – Proper Labelling

If not properly disposed of, Household Hazardous Waste can pose a danger to you, your family, your pets, those who collect and handle your chemicals, and the environment.

The second step to safely disposing of leftover waste, after ensuring it’s properly packaged, is to ensure it is also properly labelled. If possible, drop-off your leftover waste in its original, labelled container. If the label is unreadable or missing, or if you’re using a different container, please clearly re-label it to show the true contents.

  1. Wow. I had never given any thought to this issue in terms of household waste. We don’t have organs or carcasses around, but we do occasionally have contaminated broken glass and sharp objects that need to be disposed of. This was very valuable information, of which I feel many are not aware. Medical Waste Disposal Richmond Va
