Live Video of Firefighters Memorial 12pm-1pm September 10, 2013

One of the most important ceremonies for the Calgary Fire Department is the Fallen Firefighters Memorial service, when we join family members of the fallen to honour and remember the great sacrifices they have made. The service is steeped in tradition and includes observing a moment of silence, laying wreaths and ringing a bell for each of the Calgary Fire Departments’ 32 fallen firefighter’s lives.

The memorial takes place at the Police Officers and Firefighters Tribute Plaza located in front of the Calgary Municipal Building at noon on September 10, 2013.

The public are invited to attend the service and support Calgary firefighters and the families of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty or due to presumptive injury or illness.

A live video stream will begin around 12pm. The box in the lower right corner of the video window (above) will indicate if the program is ON or OFF AIR.

  1. I watched the parade of firefighters in dress uniforms walk down 8th Avenue just now en route to the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. I immediately felt overwhelmed by emotion realizing that every day men and women put their lives on the line to protect all of us. My heart goes out to the spouses and children of those we have lost. Please know that it is not taken for granted.Sincerely,
    Charlene O'Fee
