Processing planning, development and building applications in impacted northwest locations
|Water Services, Francois Bouchart discusses limitations with the West Memorial Sanitary Trunk Catachment Area with industry and community leaders on November 12, 2013 at the Water Centre|
In 2010 The City’s Water Services embarked on a study of Calgary’s northwest wastewater system to evaluate the impacts of growth to its infrastructure. The result of the two year study has determined that the main sanitary sewer line is operating at capacity.
To protect public safety, property and the environment The City has now released criteria for how planning, development and building applications will be processed in impacted northwest communities and areas. The criteria evaluates how each application impacts the wastewater system, and will be used to process new and existing applications until upgrades to the West Memorial Sanitary Trunk are completed by Water Services in 2017.
The above video provides information regarding how new applications within the impacted areas in the West Sanitary Catchment Area are impacted by sanitary limitations until 2017. For a list of impacted communities and areas or for more information visit: calgary.ca/dba
