Looking for things to do this Mother's Day?

Families golf for free at Richmond Green

Richmond Green Golf Course opens on Mother’s Day and to help celebrate the new season, families can golf for free. Located in southwest Calgary, Richmond Green Golf Course hosts an easy to play nine-hole par three course the whole family can enjoy.

Families can also "pay it forward" by making a donation to the Kids on Course junior/family subsidy program when they check in at the clubhouse. Last year, Kids on Course helped more than 500 kids experience a game that gets them outdoors, while helping them learn valuable life skills such as patience, honour and integrity.

Zumba: Try it for a toonie

Mothers and little ones can join a family Zumba class for only $2 per person on Mother’s Day. This Latin dance inspired fitness class is a great opportunity to get out with your little one, aged four and up. Babysitting is free for children aged three years old and under. Find it at Village Square Leisure Centre from 1-2 p.m.

Flock to Inglewood Bird Sanctuary

This Mother’s Day is also International Migratory Bird Day at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Join us for
guided tours, interactive nature games, local musicians, kids’ crafts, refreshments, and presentations from The Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation who will bring along Griffin, the red-tailed hawk. Activities start at 10 a.m. and go until 4 p.m.

Help us welcome back our feathered friends. Discover their epic journey and learn more about the importance of conserving these species and their habitats.

A free mum for Mom

You can also remember your Mom with a free chrysanthemum flower during Mother’s Day weekend. The free flowers will be available at the Queen’s Park Cemetery Administration office, 3219 – 4 St. N.W. for placement at any City of Calgary cemetery until Sunday, May 11.

Flowers can be picked up tomorrow (May 9) between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. inside the administration building, and outside the administration building on both Saturday May 10 and Sunday May 11.
