Funny how the money gets spent in this city- If if is something the mayor wants then he goes all out. Fuuny how the newspapers and tv stations are mum on the subject. Our money should be spent on things that benefit the entire city like widening Glenmore trail etc, instead of a really ghastly bridge that will benefit only a few.........Pretty obvious that he is oblivious to what we the people think.

Seeing on TV what other cities do for new year's celebration and what our City can come up with (nothing...) just confirms once again - this is still the wild west and no matter how much money you make - we are still a bunch of rednecks. And I say "we" because we voted those guys in. And until no one complains - Bronco will do whatever he wants and we will pay whatever he asks.

Shame he maybe do not have a budget he took all for him self .
Where are the alderman's to complain .they are busy sharing their share of 2009. Calgarians Calgarians I really do not have a word to describe you guys , I need to spent money to go to the other cities to have fun when I cannot have in my city where I pay taxes to the man who do not have a shame.

Maybe the city should spend our hard earned tax dollars, which they are so ready to grab, on a NYE celebration. An event like this brings the people of Calgary together more than a ridiculous bridge or ugly monstrosities to accommodate rose bushes. City Council seems to be focused on wrong priorities these days. They should be ashamed that we have no NYE festivities for the general public as not all people can afford the expensive parties they attend!

I was surprised to hear of the cancellation at such a late date, as I had planned on taking my boys to this NYE event. With all the facilities in our city, why couldn't this event be moved to a different public venue, instead of cancelling a Family Friendly night outright?

The area of the City responsible for Bright Night understands it (New Years Eve) occurs once per year on the same day? They should maybe put a plan together for it.
