City parks and pathways: work and progress continue

Inglewood Bird Sanctuary suffered extensive damage during the June 2013 flood.
Repairing City parks and sections of pathway from the damage done by the raging floodwaters is a work in progress.  The varying extent of damage and repair/replacement challenges means work is ongoing and will be a long term recovery process.

The good news is a lot of progress has been made over the past three-plus months, thanks to the diligence of Parks staff and generous assistance from volunteers.

The City initially closed 30 parks and 93 km of pathway.  Today, only Bowness Park and Weaslehead Flats remain fully closed (the regional pathway through Weaslehead is open).  Nearly 60 km of pathway have reopened and detours have been created wherever possible for repairs requiring more time.
