About Calgary City News Blog

The City of Calgary has created this blog to highlight some of the great things that we do, both on a corporate and individual staff level. We aim to encourage conversation and healthy debate as part of building a strong civic community online.

Brad and Paul will write and post videos and images on this blog as a way to share local stories, highlight the corporation and shed some light on City of Calgary news items. We may also have guests post their thoughts to discuss what city issues are important to them. Citizens and visitors can share their opinions and comment on these postings.

Authors
Brad and Paul will write the bulk of the postings. New authors may be added - either guest bloggers or other city staff. We’ll try to post bios, photos and contact information for our authors.

About Brad
Brad Linn is a City of Calgary Communications Advisor with the Social/Media Relations team. He has a background in journalism and has studied, worked and lived abroad extensively.. He is a born and raised Calgarian who can be seen chasing a soccer ball on various city pitches, talking someone's ear off on a sunny patio or indulging in whatever piques his interest at any given moment to satisfy his short attention span and he sometimes writes sentences that are way too long and he talks a lot; and uses semi-colons inappropriately. If you crave inanities, you can follow Brad on Twitter or visit his about.me page.

About Paul
Like Brad, Paul is a born and raised Calgarian and knows all too well that Calgary is the biggest small town going. Paul works on the City’s media relations team and is the man behind the curtain for The City’s Twitter feed. In his past work lives, Paul has done everything from dying on stage at the behest of his wife to hand-feeding the grizzlies (carefully) at the Calgary Zoo. Paul and his wife are proud parents to their giants of sons and is really appreciating how awkward it is to write about himself in third person.
