A Holiday Reminder: Calgary’s Late Night Ride Home Stands

‘Tis the season for celebration, and The City of Calgary is reminding citizens that they can rely on alternative safe transportation after late night revelry.

There are 12 Late Night Ride Home Stands strategically located throughout Calgary's Centre City and conveniently located near Nightclubs, Restaurants and Theaters.

“We encourage the public to be responsible at all times, but especially during the holiday season; if you have been drinking take a taxi," says Marc Halat, The City’s Manager of Compliance Services and Chief Livery Officer.

Bright orange signs on parking posts mark designated stands where taxis can line-up for customers in heavy-traffic areas near some city hot-spots. The stands are in operation every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Clearing these zones for taxis helps provide Calgarians a safe ride home, so please keep in mind that your car could be ticketed and towed if parked in a marked zone during restricted times.

The Late Night Ride Home Stand program is brought to you through the collaborative efforts of The City of Calgary, the taxi industry and the business community.

The program supports the Centre City's initiative to create a vibrant, fun and safe Calgary.
