As part of its commitment to enhance the customer experience, Calgary Transit today launched a new text messaging service.
Named TeleText, the new SMS messaging service will allow customers to quickly and easily determine when the next bus will arrive at their stop.
"We're proud to introduce Teletext, it offers further convenience for customers of our transit system," says Ron Collins, Calgary Transit communications coordinator.
Riders simply type a text message with Calgary Transit’s four-digit stop number on signs adjacent to each bus stop to 74000, and they will instantly receive the next scheduled stop times for their bus.
The convenient system is simple, fast and provided at no cost to customers. Calgary Transit has partnered with Ivernet, a software service provider.
Calgary Transit customers also have additional complementary texting options available to them. For those who would like general notifications from Calgary Transit about changes to scheduling or perhaps delays due to weather for their bus or train route, they can subscribe to a text message alert service that will be sent directly to their cell phone by creating a profile at www.calgarytransit.me. They can also choose their preferred routes and send a text message with the word ME to 74000 to receive the next two stop times for those routes.
Citizens are responsible for their own text-messaging plans with their respective cell phone providers to use the new texting service.
