Quick action by Calgary Transit reunites mother & 5 year old boy

On Tuesday afternoon five-year-old Platon Druzhkin became separated from his mother, Ksenia, at Westbrook Station when he hopped on board a CTrain while she was momentarily distracted by her other son in his stroller.

As the train left the station, Ksenia immediately activated the platform help phone to alert Calgary Transit security staff to what had occurred.

Calgary Transit rail controllers were notified and radioed the CTrain operator, who stopped the train.

Meanwhile, a customer on the train also used the help phone to notify the operator that a lost child was on the train.

CTrain operator Peter Monrose retrieved Platon taking him into his cab for the ride back to Westbrook Station where the young lad was reunited with his grateful and relieved mother, who waited with Calgary Transit peace officers.
