Calgary Transit launches peace officer awareness campaign

Calgary Transit launched a campaign to increase public awareness about the organization's peace officers in keeping transit customers and employees safe on Thursday, October 17.

89 peace officers patrol the entire transit system 24 hours a day, seven days a w eek, every day of the year, providing safety and security to all Calgarians using the transit system.

  1. I rode the train from the south end of town to the north end of town, which took over 1 hr each way. I did this for 1 1/2 yrs, and in all that time I only saw Transit Officers 5 or 6 times. I think your awareness campaign is an excellent idea in that riders need to be aware that Transit Officers even exist.

  2. Everyone knows pretty much what they can do but they cant do jack if they are not around lets say on a ctrain at hockey game time. Pretty much a party on wheels. Todays announcement of the transit boss going on reality TV spells out his priorities for transit users. I expect transit and its saftey issues to get much worse before getting better.
