Transit peace officers save woman from icy Bow River

A pair of Calgary Transit peace officers are being hailed as heroes after they pulled a woman from a fragile ice ledge on the Bow River.

It was just after 5 p.m. Saturday, as D'Arcy Hare and Bob Hope were driving south over the Langevin bridge when they spotted a woman in the water, clinging onto the ice.

Following a quick assessment of the stability of the snow covered shoreline, the pair descended onto the river ice and pulled the woman some 50 feet to safety.

The woman was taken to Rockyview Hospital for treatment.
