Mayor Nenshi remembers former Calgary Alderman and mayoral candidate, Jon Lord

Mayor Naheed Nenshi says he was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Jon Lord.

The 57-year-old, former Calgary alderman and provincial MLA suffered a severe heart attack at his home Tuesday night.

"Jon was a community-builder in the truest sense of the word. His legacy—in Alberta, Calgary, and especially Marda Loop—cannot be overstated," the Mayor stated in a release. "Our city has lost a champion, and far too soon. He will be greatly missed."

Lord served as alderman for Ward 8 for two terms beginning in the mid-nineties.

He then moved to provincial politics where he served as MLA for Calgary-Currie from 2001-2004.
