Road Conditions app helps Calgarians navigate snow-cleared roads

Calgarians have a new way to plan their commute during a snowy, winter storm with The City of Calgary Road Conditions app.

The app is available on iTunes and will give real-time information on plow/sander locations, road conditions and traffic cameras. It will also send notifications when a Snow Route parking ban has been advised, declared or lifted.

The City’s Road Conditions Map is featured prominently and, with GPS technology, the app automatically takes you to where you are located, and shows where the GPS-fitted plows are running.

For those who do not have an iPhone, The City has set up an email notification system at Calgary.ca/snow. The new Road Conditions App is the eighth mobile application released by The City’s Customer Service and Communications department.

“We are very excited to continue moving forward with our strategy of offering City information to Calgarians on the channel of their choice,” says Cindy Pickett, director of Customer Service and Communications.
